Task 1. Job Game.

Stand In small circles. The person, who starts, names a job and the workplace for that job, e.g. A pilot-plane, then addresses or points to another person to take a turn. If you can’t tell this immediately, you are out! Do it as quickly as possible.

Task 2. Guess what jobs are defined here?

4) Someone who fits water pipes, bathrooms…

5) Someone who looks after your teeth…

9) Someone who has got a lot of gardens and fields, domestic animals in the rural area…

11) Someone who spends much time in a car teaching and preparing people to pass the exam…

Task 3.Find a partner.Make a list of verbs describing “What do people do at these jobs”.

Task 4.What do your parents and relatives do for living? Have a discussion with your partner about your family members’ occupations and their job description.

Task 5. Complete the following text with suitable words from the given table.

Jobs where you work with your hands and don’t need any ability or training are called 1) ____________________ jobs. Task 6.Work in 2 groups. Group A, brainstorm manual jobs (based on vocational training). Group B, brainstorm professional / intellectual jobs (based on academic training). Find a partner from the opposite group and compare your lists. If there are any jobs on both lists, explain why you think they should stay on yours instead of your partner’s.

e.g. A manager is more an intellectual job because this person should be aware of psychology basics
