Attitude to work

"There is a kind of stereotype in other countries that the Russians want to have everything doing nothing. But as for the real situation is concerned there are a lot of young men and women who have got new ideas and projects, and who are real workaholics".

"Russian people work for a better future. They study a lot, they gain knowledge, in a word, do everything for getting a job they like. To prove a Russian hard-working nature, it'll be enough to take Russian teachers and doctors as an example. In spite of a very low salary they are devoted to their job".

"If we look at Russian fairy-tales, we'll see that the main character lies on a furnace and waits, when somebody will help him to marry a princess without his efforts. Russians want to have everything по щучьему велению, по моему хотенью or на блюдечке с голубой каемочкой, but the best is to get скатерть самобранка. The Russians say that работа дурака любит".

"There is a tendency to value self-reliance and hard work. The more you work, the better you work, the more you possess. This truth universally acknowledged seems to have just been understood by lazy Russians. Sometimes the Russians have no time to eat, because they have to work. Unfortunately it often influences personal life, and children become "victims" of their industrious parents".
