Diamonds are forever

‘Diamonds,’ sang Marilyn Monroe in the film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, ‘are a girl’s best friend.’ You might agree or not agree, but we can be sure of this: diamonds are not only the hardest substance in the _1_, they are also the most expensive.
