Сложноподчиненные предложения. Определительные придаточные предложения

Who, whom употребляются с существительными, обозначающими одушевленные предметы: I’ve got a friend who often goes shopping. The woman who (whom)I wanted to see was ill.

I'd like a man's meal. Я бы хотел мужскую пищу (ту которую едят мужчины, а не дети). Meal может употребляться также и в значении, общем для "завтрак", "обед", "ужин".

She has three meals a day. Her first meal (breakfast) is at 8.

Это выражение употребляется, когда что-то кому - то подается. Равнозначное этому выражение -Here it is.

Where is the butter?-Here it is.

2.9. Would you like some more cocoa? Не хочешь ли еще немного какао? Ответом на этот вопрос обычно являются: Yes, please или No, thank you.

Упражнение 18.Задайте 10 аналогичных вопросов с существительными bacon, bread, butter, cake ,chocolate, cocktail, coffee corn flakes, cream, honey ,ответом на которые был бы: Yes, please (No, thank you).

2.10. Givea cup of cocoa to Michael. To употребляется при глаголе give со вторым дополнением. С первым дополнением to не употребляется. Give Michael a cup of cocoa.

 

Упражнение 19 Преобразуйте предложения, употребляя to или наоборот, опуская его.

A shopping day

 

In the morning

Dora: What is the weather like today? (looking out of the window) Dora: Oh, it’s very nice. The sun isn’t shining, but it’s warm. They said it wouldn’t rain. We might go shopping.

At breakfast

Dora: You have some porridge or corn flakes and milk, sandwiches, marmelade and cocoa. Michael: A breakfast for children again. I’d like a man’s meal: bacon and… Dora: Good, you can have it too.

In the car

Michael: Department stores sell different goods and have a large selection .We can get everything that we want and don’t have to shop all day long.… Emily: But I like to go shopping, I can shop all day, and I don’t get tired. … Dora: I guess we’ll go to the department store, the more so, that we are just there. Get off, I’ll park the car, there…

At the women’s clothing department

Emily: Do they sell clothes both for grown-ups and teen-agers here?

Dora: I don’t think so.

Salesgirl: Can I help you?
