1. Practise reading the following words:
emerge [i'mə:dʒ], predetermine ['pri:di'tə:min], instantaneous [instən'teinjəs], component [kəm'pounənt], comparatively [kəmpærətivli], criteria [krai'tiəriə], quartz [kwə:ts], accurately ['ækjuritli].
2. State to what part of speech the following words belong:
to communicate, signal, telegraphy, electrical, modulation, unreasonable, fields, to reflect, better, hard.
3. Find the roots of the following words:
amplified, induction, perceptibly, producing, complicated, unnecessary, charged, modulation.
4. Match up the words which have a similar meaning:
a) concept, information, enormous, speed, inexpensive, significant, to require;
b) velocity, important, to demand, idea, data, cheap, very large.
