Good Pasture

Good pasture should be a part of every summer ration. Alfalfa, clover, rape, sweetclover, bluegrass, and many other crops are recommended for hog pastures. Any of these are excellent during the period when they are producing an abundant supply of fresh, succulent forage. A good swine pasture is any combination so handled that it supplies fresh, growing feed from early spring until late fall, and one that does not fail in dry hot weather. It furnishes only a maintenance ration for young pigs and should be supplemented with grain to provide for gains.
