Мармелад и джем - не одно и то же. Мармелад делают из апельсинов, а джем из других фруктов и ягод. Традиционный напиток на завтрак - чай, который пьют с холодным молоком. Для многих обед - очень быстрый прием пищи. В городах много сэндвич-баров, где рабочие могут выбрать себе хлеб по вкусу - белый или черный, и разные салаты. В закусочных (pubs) подают хорошую дешевую пищу в горячем и холодном виде. Школьники получают горячий обед в школе, но многие просто перекусывают тем, что взяли из дома - бутерброд, баночка с напитком, какой-нибудь фрукт, и чипсы.

«Чай» означает две вещи. Это и напиток, и прием пищи. Некоторые устраивают чаепитие днем с бутербродами, пирожными и чашечкой чая, конечно. Очень популярен чай со сливками.

Вечерний прием пищи - самый плотный для многих людей. Обычно они едят очень рано, между 6 и 8 часами вечера и часто вся семья собирается вместе за одним столом.

По воскресеньям семьи проводят традиционный семейный обед. Они готовят жаркое из баранины, говядины, ягненка, курицы или свинины, с картофелем, овощами и подливкой - соусом, который делается из сока приготавливаемого мяса.

Британцы любят кухни других стран, особенно итальянскую, французскую, китайскую, индийскую. Часто люди берут еду на вынос - вы покупаете еду в ресторане и приносите ее домой.

Идут проливные дожди, но погода быстро проясняется. Все любят загорать, купаться, рыбачить, ездить на море летом. Но иногда погода очень переменчивая. В мае может пойти сильный снег и дуть сильный ветер. В феврале снег может начать таять, а небо стать голубым и безоблачным как весной. У англичан есть пословица: «Если тебе не нравится погода, подожди немного». Может они и правы, потому что погода в Англии очень изменчива и первые слова, которые произносят жители этой страны при встрече, обязательно будут о погоде. Но я согласен, какой бы ни была погода, мы не должны сердиться и должны быть благодарны ей.

Люди любят отдыхать на природе, соответственно они организовывают пикники, которые очень популярны среди людей разных возрастов. Это великолепная возможность расслабиться и забыть о проблемах. К тому же отдых на природе не требует большого воображения.

Успех пикника зависит от погоды тоже. Хотя угрожающие раскаты грома не всегда реализуются на практике. К тому же, есть люди, которых не пугает даже постоянно моросящий дождик. Если они решили поехать на пикник, ничто не остановит их, даже вероятность промокнуть насквозь.

За городом вы" сразу опознаете место, где был пикник до вас, по разбросанным (by scattered around) пакетам, контейнерам, бутылкам, банкам. Напомните вашим друзьям так не делать!

На природе все что угодно может обеспечить вам занятие, если вы не знаете чем себя развлечь - собирайте хворост, рыбачьте, собирайте цветы или ищите ягоды, купайтесь, разводите костер,

готовьте обед, спите, играйте с мячом, о котором часто вспоминают уже на месте.

Кстати, предлагаю отправиться на пикник в следующие выходные. Надо только послушать прогноз погоды. Конечно, доверять ему нельзя, но это традиция. Если день будет солнечный, не будет дуть сильный ветер, мы поедем. Если прогноз пообещает ливни и холод, мы лучше останемся дома и съедим все, что приготовили заранее.
